California Rivers Update

June 4th, 2008 Webmaster

Well its the first week of June and there are plenty of great spring rivers still running. Especially if you look to Southern California which ended the winter with a snowpack of 130% of normal compared to the Northern California who was nearly a perfect average at 95%.

The Kaweah is expected to run through late June… while the Upper Kern is predicted to flow through in the first week of July.

In Northern California, the Merced is still flowing well and is expected to flow through the June as well. While the North Fork Stanislaus and the North Fork American had some good water for the better part of May, these great runs are now done for the 2008 season.

Haven’t heard much about the Kings River this year but after looking at Dreamflows.. it appears the Kings is experiencing some great water right now with water expected to flow through to the better part of July.

Most dam controlled river like the Tuolumne, South Fork American, Middle Fork American and the Lower Kern are now running at flows just slight above their summer expected summer averages.
