February Snowpack Report
January and early February were outstanding months for precipitation here in California. I recall driving over Donner pass in early December in route to the America Outdoors Conference in Reno… the snowpack was 0%. I mean the ground was brown.
By mid January we were just below average in Northern California and about 50% statewide. By the end of the first week of February we were looking at 120% – 140% of normal. NICE!
Since then it’s been a bit dry and little on the warmer side. But that’s ok.. this weekend is expected to add a little freshness to the situation.
The bottom line is the California Rafting season is shaping up but it’s still too early for any formal predictions. We still have a long ways to go. Lets just hope that this Spring is as wet as the past few years.
